Experiential Learning and Reflections
Up to this point, my experiences include substitute teaching, observations, and volunteer work. Over the last year, I have been an avid substitute teacher for Miami ISD and have enjoyed it every step of the way. There are many unknowns with substitute teaching, but it really has helped prepare me. What has helped me the most is getting to observe classrooms and see the teachers in action. From the first day of school procedures to small group instruction, to the end of year parties, every aspect of the school day is important. Growing up in a small school and living in a small school community has given me the opportunity to attend many school events. I have had the opportunity to volunteer at sporting events and track meets as well as covering the office or a classroom when school staff are out.
